LDL stands for Low Density-Lipo Protein and is considered the bad cholesterol. LDL cannot be dissolved by the bloodstream so if unaturally high levels occur it can lead to the clogging of the arteries which leads to either stroke or heart attack.

HDL stands for High-Density Lipo Protein and is considered the good cholesterol. High levels of HDL correlate for a more healthier heart but do not stop heart attacks itself. It helps carry away LDL away from the body back to the liver to be expelled reducing risk of a heart attack.
